The World Needs You!

Stephen Hawking addresses a student audience

Speaking on the survival of the human race he said that we must colonize another planet within the next 100 years if humanity is to survive. He ended his talk with a positive call for optimism and intellectual curiosity saying:

“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see, wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious”, he told the hall packed with students.

“However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up.”

Suggested classroom discussion based on this topic:

Discuss the threats to our human existence on Earth and why it is important that we work towards space colonization.

There is a place for every student in our society. You are needed whatever your field of endeavour. The world out there is waiting for you.

Teachers are key people in guiding their students on their journey of discovery. Helping them find their role in our modern society.

We will survive but only if everybody plays their part!
